Planning

A site of a total GFA of 2300 mu (around 153.33 hectare) was chosen as the permanent campus by the Ningbo Municipal government, located between the higher education park and the manufacturing center in Yongjiang Science and Technology Innovation Corridor. It resides in the most coveted and promising area for local scientific and technological industries, naturally well-positioned to reach the most frontier innovation developments from inside the ecosystem. The permanent campus is expected to open in 2025 when you will witness the rise of a budding campus that nurtures intellectual and cultural sense and sensibility, a smart, green, low-carbon campus that is open to the community, and eventually a symbolic household name in Ningbo City and the Yangtze river Delta.

The Yu Renrong Education Foundation will invest 10 billion yuan on campus construction and another 20 billion yuan on operation, covering basic expenses on training, scientific research, and international exchanges. On top of the funding provided by Yu Renrong Education Foundation, a fundraising system has been established to channel multiple resources, such as government funding, research funds, tuition and fees, social donations, achievements transfer, and so on.

The student headcount is expected to reach 10000 in 10 years, with a student mix of 4 (undergraduate) : 3 (graduate) : 3 (PhD). In the early stage, EIT will develop joint post-graduate programs with prestigious higher education institutions from home and abroad; EIT will start enrolling postgraduate students independently since 2022 and undergraduate students since it is officially approved by the Ministry of Education. The faculty-to-student ratio will be kept around 1:10, supported by a holistic faculty team of tenure-track, teaching, and research scholars.
